The Saturday Series

THE SATURDAY SERIES - Weekend Workshops

The Artspace ‘Saturday Series’ is a programme of weekend workshops for adults. Each workshop is designed to provide a bespoke, one-off, arts experience that you can enjoy, at your leisure, on a weekend. Whether you would like to paint something to hang on your wall at home, or make a beautiful crafty gift for a friend or family member, these half day or full day workshops aim to help you to create something unique!

Cost: These classes are not subsidised by external funders. Artspace are nonprofit making, prices cover the cost of tuition, materials and organisational overheads.

10th February 2018, 10:30am – 4:30pm
Painting With Paper – Paper Collage, with Eunice Bell
Learn how to create, ‘paint’ a picture using paper. We will look at how different paper lends itself to a picture, how to compose a picture and ways to layer and build a final piece.  We will be taking natural landscape as our inspiration and will be working from pictures and photos.  If there is an image that you would like to consider working from, and you have any papers you wish to use, feel free to bring them along.  Suitable for all abilities.
Cost: £39. All materials provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

10th March 2018, 10:30am – 4:30pm
Pottery Saturday with Jane Spray
Have fun with clay: make a mug for yourself, and maybe one for Artspace too. Learn how to make a mug using a clay slab and a template, and how to decorate it using coloured slips and oxides. What sort of handle will suit your mug? Learn how to make one, and fix it on to your mug using slurry. If you have time, you can make another mug, for use at Artspace, too. The emphasis for the day will be on improving your hand building skills. However, anyone who would like a short go on the wheel will also be able to do this. The mugs will be glazed and fired for you to pick up in a fortnight’s time.
Cost: £39. All materials provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

24th March 2018, 10:30am – 4:30pm
