The Artspace ‘Saturday Series’ is a programme of weekend workshops for adults running here at Artspace. Each workshop is designed to provide a bespoke, one-off, arts experience that you can enjoy, at your leisure, on a weekend. Whether you would like to paint something to hang on your wall at home, or make a beautiful crafty gift for a friend or family member, these half-day or full day workshops aim to help you to create something unique!

Portrait Sculpting, with Dorota Rapacz
Saturday 14th September 2024 / 10:30am – 4:30pm (at Artspace Cinderford)
£75 ( *£50 concessions) including materials
Sculpting a portrait in clay is the challenge for this workshop. Our model would be a person seating opposite to you, and we will take turns in modelling for each other. Sculpting is another way of observing life and training your eye and hand coordination. There will be an armature on which we will apply the clay into a simple head shape, which will become a base for adding more to represent our model. All steps will be performed in stages.
The workshop is intended for all levels of experience.
We will sculpt in clay, which will be hollowed later and fired.

Joy of Leaves, with Lizzie Godden
Saturday 5th October 2024 / 10:30am – 4:30pm (at Artspace Cinderford)
£60 ( *£45 concessions) including materials
On this one day workshop you’ll be able to ‘ecoprint’ with leaves onto different types of paper, such an exciting technique, drawing out natural pigments from leaves to get stunning results. You’ll also learn an ancient way of preserving leaves, a way that means the leaves will remain supple for years. You’ll be able to use treated leaves to stitch into, to be creative with.

Self-Guided Life Drawing from a
Model, with Grace Engel
Saturday 5th October 2024 / 10:30am – 2:30pm (at Artspace Cinderford)
£40 ( *£30 concessions) including materials
A half-day of self-guided life drawing with an experienced model in a relaxed setting.
Suitable for all, from complete beginners who wish to try it out, to practiced artists.
Bring a small table easel if you wish.

Throw a Pot Experience, with Derek Lamb
Saturday 5th October 2024 / 10:00am – 1:00pm (at Artspace Cinderford)
£40 ( *£30 concessions) including materials
Try your hand at throwing a pot on the potter’s wheel under the expert guidance of local potter Derek Lamb.
Though not the easiest thing to do, the aim is to have a hands on experience, have fun & end up with one small pot. This will then be glazed & fired on your behalf for collection from Artspace and is included in the price.
This is for adults & beginners with no potting experience, who will have a wheel each.
There are four places available, and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

Truly Original and Fabulous Christmas Decorations,
with Lizzie Godden
Saturday 30th November 2024 / 10:30am – 4:30pm (at Artspace Cinderford)
£60 ( *£45 concessions) including materials
We’ll use Christmas fabric and card, and print, stitch and collage. At the end of the day, you’ll have several very individual decorations and cards, and lots of ideas to make even more!
